Over half of the companies that screen candidates online check their Facebook profiles, and many more plan to start. Recruiters use the site to research a candidate's potential fit into the company's culture, their ability to communicate well, and other factors, and often recommend candidates based on their profiles. However, a number of candidates are cut from the interview process based on their posts; even poor communication skills, as evidenced by status posts and comments, can cost a candidate a job.
Sometimes recruiters learn too much from a candidate's profile, and this has caused concern in the industry.
