2012 is behind us and now we have the opportunity to reflect on the wins (and fails) of social media marketing. While we know that 2012 was chock full of companies' social media snafus, some of them hilariously memorable, some good came out of 2012 as well. Successful campaigns from Nike to the film Bully, the successes of 2012 are just as heartwarming as the failures were painful.
The infamous and hilarious screw up of #McDStories on Twitter became a sensation though only running for two hours before being pulled. Initially the campaign was projected to encourage Twitterers to share their happy McDonald's involved stories, but what they got instead was horror stories involving bandaids and E-coli.
American Apparel's callous "in case you're bored" sale during hurricaine Sandy, Kitchen Aid's trash talk of Obama's dead grandma, and Chick-Fil-A controversy are enough to make us embarrassed to even have been on the same Internet as them.
Thank goodness that 2012 mess is over, maybe 2013 will be better. Maybe. Take a look at the infographic below for some good old fashioned reminiscing; or is it still too soon?
