We all know how important social media has become to all parts of life. I've heard estimates as high as 2.3 billion for the number of people who are members of at least one social site. So needless to say, this stuff is here to stay. But that doesn't mean that things can't get a little stale in the space, right? Come on, you know what I mean...
If you're like me, you know the social media/social business scene can use some shaking up. Which is why I'm so excited that the folks at Social Media Today are bringing us The Social Shake-Up Conference September 15-17! And they are doing it in Atlanta!
Now, of course, I'm happy about this being held in my back yard (Mary Mac's here we come), but the real important thing is the motivation for the event. The Social Shake-Up Conference is both an educational conference and networking event focusing specifically on the needs of enterprise level businesses looking to evolve beyond a business with a social media policy and Twitter account, into a true social business.
As event host Maggie Fox says, this is the "real deal" - as the list of speakers include leading thinkers/practitioners from companies like AFLAC, Citigroup, Dell, GetSatisfaction and my old employer PwC - among others. And all these folks will be sharing their vast amount of insights, experiences and perspectives on what it takes to be a social business - and not just a user of social media.
Take a look at the agenda and you'll see a great deal of ground will be covered over the course of the event, with tracks that dig deep into important areas like Community and Customers, Big Data, Content, The Social Business, The Mobile Business, and Strategy & the C-Suite. So if you're serious about making the transition from being a business that uses social media, to a business with social integrated.
Being the organizer of my own social business event - Social Biz Atlanta - I'm glad to see a conference like The Social Shake-Up coming to town. There's a lot of great work being done down here, and it's great to have Social Media Today and BlogWorld have their inaugural conference in the ATL. And I'm especially excited to be launching the results of the 4th annual Social Customer Engagement Index at the event as well.
Do yourself a favor and make plans to come to Atlanta September 15-17th to help us shake things up in the social business space. For a short time, the organizers are going to be offering early registration pricing. You can sign up to attend here, so do it as soon as you can.
I hope to see you in the ATL come September!
