It’s hard to believe that we have only had smartphones for about a decade now. Thanks to smartphones we can snap pictures or even take HD video anywhere we go, and we can share it with the world, thanks to social media, at the click of a button.

The first digital camera was invented by Kodak in the 1970s, but digital photography didn’t become mainstream until the 1990s. Even then film was still preferred by many people, as storage was an issue and image quality was still lagging. But thanks to smartphones we all have high definition cameras with us at all times, and now there’s so much digital content that it would take 36 million iPads to store it all. What’s more, 90% of that digital content was created within the last two years.
