Facebook's released the latest version of their Topics to Watch report, this time looking at the issues seeing significant increases in mention volume over August.
Facebook launched their Topics to Watch Reports in April this year in order to highlight emerging trends which are gaining momentum across The Social Network, based on mention volume, velocity and other related engagement metrics. Facebook's data team identifies these topics then breaks each out into its own segment, with a description of the trend, a graph showing mention growth, and associated data around related topics and demographic popularity to help marketers make the most of such increases.
So which topics are on the rise at the moment?
As noted by Facebook:
"Many of this month's Topics to Watch celebrate cultural diversity in the US-particularly in the diversity of its cuisine."
As you can see, based on growth in conversation and related topics, Facebook's using their vast data resources to help marketers detect the next big thing, the next big trend that might boost their marketing efforts and give them an advantage by tapping into it early.
Facebook's research team says that 80% of the topics they've identified in this way have gone on to become more prominent trends, so it's worth paying attention to the monthly listings and seeing if there's a relevant angle for your brand to take on any of the identified topics.
