After announcing that it was on the way back in January, Instagram has now released the option to rearrange posts on profile grids, giving users more ways to control how their content is presented in the app.

The update will give IG users an easy way to update the content presentation on their profile, which could help people highlight their best content to profile visitors.
As explained by Instagram: “With the new ‘Reorder your grid’ feature, you can now rearrange content on your main profile grid, which is perfect for highlighting your best work or making your profile feel more like you.”
The option is available within the function listings, which is available after tapping on any post on the profile page.
“Simply go to your profile, tap and hold any post on your grid, select ‘Reorder grid’ in the pop-up menu, long press, and drag your content to the desired position,” Instagram said. “Your changes are saved immediately and are visible to all profile visitors.”
Instagram has hinted at adding this option for years, with the first test of the feature originally spotted in 2022. But IG seemingly shelved the concept, in favor of rebuilding the grid to include larger thumbnails, which are more aligned with vertical content. Instagram launched that update in January 2025.
And now, users will have more capacity to re-arrange and re-focus their profile, based on whatever suits their approach best.
The update will give creators more considerations for their IG presentation, which could be a valuable means to engage profile visitors. At the same time, it could also enable people who have created displays based on the old format to realign their updates accordingly.
There’s a range of ways in which this could be used, adding another aspect to users’ overall IG management.
The update is rolling out to all users starting today in the latest version of the app.
