I've been spending time at SAPPHIRE today with fellow SMT blogger, Craig Cmehill (thanks for the tee shirt, Craig.) Craig has just opened an SAP campus on Second Life and gave me a tour. Craig's avatar is really hot, fyi. But more to the point, the Second Life offices are all in SAP blue, have a conference room where we could all meet up and talk about -- what else -- SAP, and where we can show movies, listen to audio, or go next door to the Redmonk offices and quaf a martini.
As some of you may know, I'm also working on perfecting the web-based roundtable, with Bulldog Solutions, and Craig showed me an ampitheater in Second Life that could be absolutely the killer app for webinars (and there's no way you can access your email while the event is in progress.) Imagine being able to use your avatar to stand behind a podium, to point to your slides, to ask questions. And imagine if you are in the audience and can jump up on the stage when you disagree! Or better yet, hiring the Angels with Linden dollars to provide "security"? Come to think of it, there must be a biker island in Second Life.... Craig, help! Anyway, check it out.
