Meta is improving login with Facebook, which lets users access other apps using their Facebook login information. The latest updates are focused on streamlining the login process so that it takes fewer taps to use Facebook credentials to access third-party tools, the company said.
First, Meta is rolling out a one-tap sign-on for Android and Web.
As explained by Meta: “A one-tap prompt appears for users who are already signed in with their Facebook credentials on their device, cutting the friction out of returning logins. Instead of walking through a full login flow, an eligible user confirms with a single tap and they are in.”
Developers will be able to implement this improved Facebook sign-in process through the latest SDK, which will ensure a smoother sign-in experience.
Meta also launched improvements for its Limited Login flow, in order to reduce re-logins for users. In addition, the company updated its iOS fast app switch process.
“Users log in by switching to the native Facebook app on iOS rather than going through an in-app browser, which makes the flow faster and more familiar,” Meta said.
That should ensure the app-entered credentials and data will be used to log in. It’s designed to save users from having to re-access Facebook by signing in on the web and then confirming that log-in in the app.
Meta said that developers can access all of these updates in the latest SDK.
“From there, each feature is a small, well-scoped change,” Meta said. “Update your SDK, opt into the features that fit your integration, and give your users a faster, more reliable login experience.”
This is a more technical update, but it could be worth updating any log-in with Facebook procedures to ensure a smoother access flow.
