The Teqlo beta is live. Head on over to www.teqlo.com and check it out. You can also click on the image to the left and see a 2 minute screen cast that gives you a quick tour.
And, thanks to YouTube, can also see slightly lower resolution version here:
Taking the site live has required a huge amount of work. I consider it such a great opportunity to work with such an amazing team.
When you do go over to Teqlo, I should warn you that what you will be seeing is an early Beta. To put it bluntly, we need more widgets. Part of my job at Teqlo is to help define and set-up a partner program that will support 3rd party development of Teqlo widgets. For people who offer web services, Teqlo offers a simple and obvious way to extend their API into a "Do It Yourself" world. The result, hopefully, will be customer driven innovation at its best.
To get an idea of what you will be able to do in Teqlo, the best thing to do is actually build your own application. Here's a simple recipe:
- Sign-up, login and get to the Start page.
- Find the tab called "builder"
- In the builder, you will be presented with an empty canvas. Click on a tab called "Widgets" and drag 3 widgets onto the canvas. To start with, I suggest the Ebay search widget, the Google map widget and the Product List widget.
- On the Google map widget, click on a little button that looks like a puzzle piece. This will present you with our Interactions Editor.
- In the Interactions editor, define two rules. First, for the action when someone clicks on an item in the Ebay search results, define a reaction in Google Maps, asking the map to add a marker. Second, for the same action, add an item to the product list.
- Hit save, go back to the start page and hit refresh (we are working on a fix to make sure you do not have to hit refresh)
- Find your app and run it.
This is not a super complex mash-up. The point is only to show you how easy it will be to build a customized application in Teqlo. Teqlo encapsulates all the complexity. You just define how things fit together and Teqlo takes care of the rest.
Our goal is to make something that is an order of magnitude easier than anything else that is out there. My personal goal is to build a platform that lets end users define and customize applications such that the apps do exactly what they need them to do. I want to turn end users into Innovation Creators. That's why I joined Teqlo, and this is my first chance to show a broad audience what we are building. I hope you like.
