Finding your best times to tweet has long been a hot topic. There exist dozens of studies, infographics, blogposts and even several tools out there to find out about it.
The problem seems to be that the "best times" is a very subjective measurement. Which factors determine the best time on Twitter for you?
Is it more clicks? More @replies? More favourites? More retweets? It is up to you to decide what takes priority.
One of the most detailed reflections on this topic has been written about on Tweetsmarter.
After following several pieces of advice and taking various approaches in the past, I found that my best results are coming from using the analytics tool Tweriod.
What is Tweriod doing differently?
Amidst the many tools out there, the biggest difference is Tweriod's algorithm to come up with results for you. When most tools only analyze YOUR past tweets, Tweriod goes that step further. The App analyses all of your past tweets and the ones from your followers.
To me, this is the only analysis that really makes sense, as other tools that look at only your past few tweets will come up with a very flawed result.
How does it work?
The flow of using Tweriod couldn't be any more seamless. After arriving at the site you simply sign in with Twitter. The App - because it takes such a sophisticated approach in analyzing your best tweeting times - then takes about 30 minutes to generate the data for you.
Once finished it will conveniently DM you the report so you can have a look.
You will get 4 top times to gain more exposure from your tweets:
The App also provides you with an hourly graph, showing you at which times your followers are online the most:
One feature that I particularly like is the @replies column. To me, this indicates a very important contributor to measure engagement and best times.
What to do with this data?
In order to really test if these newly found "best times to tweet" really work for you it is important to test them on a regular basis.
You might want to try setting these optimal fixed tweeting times in BufferApp, scheduling tweets individually in HootSuite or testing them with manual tweeting.
Your tweeting times might need some adjustment, but in my case I found lots of increased clicks and retweets due to Tweriod's results.
Wrap-Up
I believe Tweriod gives you a fantastic way to discover your best tweeting times. The algorithm is very versatile and the App offers you lots of different results you can choose from. This means it's up to you as what you consider the best factor to take into account.
The fact that you can also extract and download your results as PDF's allows you to use this data elsewhere too.
