YouTube has made its artificial intelligence-powered Ask YouTube search option available to all U.S. users as the platform continues to integrate more AI tools, in alignment with broader discovery trends.
Ask YouTube enables users to search YouTube using conversational queries. The platform began testing the option in 2023.

YouTube has since expanded Ask YouTube to its desktop version and its Connected TV experience. And now, the feature has been extended to the mobile app, with all U.S. users able to access the platform’s AI-assisted discovery process in all versions of the product.
As explained by YouTube: “This reimagined, conversational search tool allows users to ask complex queries, refine with follow-up questions, and receive results in an interactive format, whether they’re on the go or using voice commands from the couch.”
It’s the most significant AI integration on YouTube, with conversational discovery helping to fuel deeper dives into in-app topics.
As noted, this aligns with the widespread growth of conversational searches.
According to a study released earlier this year by Pew Research, around half of U.S. adults now use AI chatbots, up from one-third in 2024.
With more people using AI chatbots across a broad range of contexts, it makes sense for YouTube to align with this and provide its own tools to meet demand.
