YouTube is expanding access to its artificial intelligence-powered Ask YouTube functionality on mobile to all U.S. users.
YouTube launched the feature on mobile to its Premium subscribers in April. The option enables users to enter conversational queries and get expanded responses based on contextual understanding.
As explained by YouTube: “For example, you can ask for help planning a 3-day road trip from San Francisco to Santa Barbara, and you’ll get a structured, step-by-step itinerary instead of a list of videos.”
Users are also able to ask follow-up questions based on initial responses. Ask YouTube is designed to provide answers that take into account the context of its previous replies.
This expansion will give U.S. users access to YouTube’s advanced AI search capacity, with all signed-in viewers who are 13 years or older now able to access the option on desktop, mobile and TV devices.
The feature could be a handy showcase of YouTube’s breadth of topic-specific insight and information, and it could improve discovery, making YouTube a more valuable platform for product and service research.
YouTube said it’s also working on bringing Ask YouTube to more places around the world, in more languages, facilitating expanded discovery across the board.
