"If that's how the world is, let's use it" features Chicago blogger Wendy Tanagho. Wendy has an auto-immune disorder that caused her to lose her hair at a young age. Publicly, she is active on Facebook. Privately, she blogs as a way to express her feelings and work though emotional issues related to her condition. Wendy speaks about the delicate balance between what is said to the world, and what may best be said, in person, to closest friends and family. She considers how her world has grown bigger through her activities, and understands that the right words can actually make someone feel important, feel cared for, feel encouraged. The power of positive action... "If that's how the world is, let's use it."
About the series: The Culture of Content Creation is a video series about people who make their own digital content for sharing - such as blogs, podcasts, wiki entries, online product reviews or videos - to learn why they do it, what they find rewarding, and how they view their role in the world. Started in early 2008, this cultural media project from Elastic Lab continues today, reflecting changes in technology, knowledge and the social fabric of the Internet.
