Friendster is bringing social back. Yes the traditional social networking platform is back from social gaming. Friendster was launched in 2002 by an American computer programmer Jonathan Abrams as a social networking platform to connect users with each other to share videos, photos, messages and comments with each other via their profiles.
At the time Friendster was one of the first networks to gain 1 million members. After the invasion of Myspace and Facebook, users had a wider range of options and Friendster quickly began to lose members. Then in 2011 the site relaunched as a social gaming platform and achieved a 115 million registered users.
In November 2012 they announced on their official blog post that they are coming backk with social discovery features. The blog post continuoed, saying the following: "Users asked for social, so now we're bringing it back, just bigger and better! If you haven't noticed yet, there's a brand new look to the site to help you enjoy the new features more. We wouldn't want you to miss out on anything, so here's a walk-through of the new stuff that you can enjoy on Friendster".
Now most users can get Friendster Social with Social Profile, Who's Viewed You, The Crush Game, Wall of Fame, VIP and Surprise Friendster Coins raffle. Who's Viewed Me is an option for the users to check out your profile. So now that the social networking granddaddy is coming back with social, whats going to happen? Lets watch and see.
