X has launched a new program to entice video creators to post in the app, with its Video Kickstart program offering cash incentives for users who post a lot of video clips each month.
As explained by X: “The Video Kickstart Bonus is an invite-only pilot program that pays creators a bonus for posting their own short-form, vertical videos on X. Post 15 qualifying videos on 15 different days during a program period, and you earn the bonus for that period.”
Each video needs to be shot in vertical format and be under three minutes long to qualify. X added that videos must be original, though creators will be allowed to post videos they’ve previously shared to other platforms, “as long as they are yours.”
X said selected creators will be invited into the program and need to enroll in the program to get a share of bonus payments.
“The program runs in periods of about one month,” X said. “Each period has an enrollment deadline and a last day to post, and you can find both in your invitation and in Creator Studio.”
X also said that creators who sign up for the program will also be fast-tracked into its Original Content Rewards Program, through which they’ll be able to earn a percentage of any ads shown in relation to their posts.
X has been trying to make video a bigger focus in the app, in order to better align with content consumption trends and get people spending more time in the X feed.
In July, the platform launched an updated livestream studio process and offered $1 million in funding for livestream creators to help raise awareness of the option. In August, X added new video overlay options, and last month it rolled out an updated video composer, which includes a range of improved creative options.

In 2023, X reported that video consumption was rapidly rising in the app. The company said it would be working to improve its video presentation tools to align with this shift.
X is lagging behind a little in getting video posting options out there, but as more people spend time consuming video content, X is clearly looking to draw an increasing amount of video content from its users.
