Before I go into this, let me set a few parameters in regards to what Google already knows.....
- If you use Adsense, Adwords or Analytics as a site owner, Google has a host of information that it can use for or against you.
- In fact, you don't even really need to have adsense but visit a website with adsense ads on it....google records your visit with cookies...
- If you have a gmail account, Google knows who you are connected with (based on email address) as well as your likes and dislikes (they already have personalized ads according to what you are talking about).
- If you use Google Reader, they know what websites you like the most, what you read and the click through rate....
- If you have a gmail account and stay logged in, they will tailor your search according to past search behavior. If you are "connected" via social media, they will furthermore tell you who shared what in your network.
- If you have facebook or twitter, they know the social circles you hang in, who likes what, who is the most "connected" and who has the most "pull".
- If you don't have a gmail account, Google still knows the bounce back rate for search and still will tailor your search results (more broadly) according to your IP address...if it can.
This is not a conspiracy, it's fact....
I am going to leave your web page or website out of the equation for now. The fact that you own a website or not isn't relevant. The fact that you want to rank it in search isn't relevant either. A website may be the destination but knowing what the searcher's preferences could be is far more important to Google. A website is just a prop in this act. I believe that this is what drives the future of search marketing.
