It seems like every day, another social network sells or is valued at over $1,000,000,000.
It's what Yahoo! paid for Tumblr, Facebook shelled out for Instagram, and Google handed over for Waze. More and more, $1 billion is becoming an expected price tag attached to the logos of our favorite networks.
But no matter how normal the fee may be, $1,000,000,000 is a value so big, it's hard to understand. How much money is one billion bucks, really?
A few weeks ago, I set out to answer that question. I did a little research into all the luxury items and experiences one billion dollars can buy, and I became close friends with my calculator. By the end, I was astounded not only by what $1,000,000,000 can get you, but also by how challenging it would actually be to spend an amount that high.
Check out what I came up with in this infographic.
