(cue the evil laugh)
Remember the game Risk? Do they still even make that? I used to love to play that game. I mean who couldn't love a game where the fate of the world is based on the roll of dice.
But I digress...
The folks over at Flowtown created a 2010 Social Networking Map. Here's the full image in all its glory.
I must say it's pretty impressive and staggering at the same to think that Facebook has 500 million users. Think about that. The population of the US is ONLY 250 million for crying out loud.
It is pretty cool to look at, though...
Look one way and you see the Receding Glaciers of AOL & Windows Live. Look another way and there's the Former Kingdom on MySpace.
But my favorite is the OMG WTF TTYL Ocean. Don't think Captain Stubing's setting any course for new adventure or romance on that body of water. No more like Gene Hackman going down with the SS Poseidon. (ok, showing my age now)
But as funny as this is to look at, it should also send out a warning signal.
What direction are you headed? What's your next Port of Call?
Are you and your company on a collision course with the Sea of Desperation?
The incredibly cliched moral of all this is...
Make sure your Social Media endeavors and journeys are on the right course and once they are, stay the course. But always keep that periscope at the ready to avoid the rough waves (Google Wave anyone?) and to also keep an eye out for the next place to make landfall, AKA the next great Social Media tool.
