This week I moderated another Social Media Today webinar as part of their Best Thinker webinar series, this time on the topic of How to Create a Cultural Model for Effective Social Media Management. This webinar was sponsored by LiveWorld and featured Augie Ray (@augieray), Seasoned Social Media Professional; Jason Moriber (@JasonMoriber) Senior Digital Strategist at Verizon; and Peter Friedman (@PeterFriedman), Chief Executive Officer at LiveWorld. We discussed how marketers can best utilize corporate culture in their social media efforts as well as how to scale social media for effective management.
Here are 3 of the key take-aways:
- Social media is a party - so what kind of party is your brand? Your cultural model can act as a guide to your social media identity and how you interact with your customer base.
- Social media team as "squads" - Jason mentioned in his presentation that they combine 3 disciplines: Strategy, Analytics and Customer Engagement to form social media "squads" that are agile in nature and not hierarchal to attack certain issues thereby allowing them to scale effectively.
- Leverage a strong mission - Augie cited an example of USAA where they were very effectively able to leverage the USAA mission into not just social media but all channels.
