No, that's not a typo, it's a reference to my favorite movie character Gaylord Focker, as played by Ben Stiller in the "Meet the Parents" movie trilogy. What we love about Gaylord Focker is he's a kind-hearted, smart and humble guy who happens, through a series of misguided good intentions, to make mistake after mistake. He's lovable, laughable, and a fantastic example of what it's like to be truly human.
As companies and brands, we've had many "Focker" moments, all of which have become part of our own storytelling lore that makes us feel connected to our true and authentic selves. Who hasn't sat through a meeting with their fly down? Who hasn't accidentally walked into the wrong public bathroom and realized it just a little too late? Yes, I'm talking to you. You know who you are. Embracing our own "Focker" moments in life helps us become better storytellers and social sharers. Being able to laugh at yourself is one of the most endearing traits we, as humans, have.
