It's Alive! Introducing So.cl to the social media game. It seems that Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and LinkedIn have one more contestant to compete with; or do they?
So.cl is a less than impressive social media site that users can pin pictures like Pinterest, Like comments similar to Facebook and message like Twitter. The social media site is a product of Microsoft powered by Bing. What separates So.cl from the other sites though is the capability of sharing web content that is found on Bing. If you think you can post your personal life on this site you are sadly mistaken. The site only shares interests of users that come from different websites searchable on Bing and is designated only for students. While many features will appear to be similar to the popular sites we all love to spend hours on, So.cl will assume an identity that is very much its own.
So.cl is, to me, the Frankenstein of social media. I was an avid supporter of the Facebook wave of popularity. I have a Twitter account and I look forward to the next best thing. So.cl focuses on the community that social media sites originally were geared towards. I wonder however, how long until the site becomes accessible to everyone? Facebook began as a student powered social site and look where we are now. Another might ask if So.cl will survive the social media universe. Even if it is powered by Bing, how long until it flounders?
Members of the social media world are already lining up to become a part of the So.cl universe. While social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are continuing to promote the social lives of everyone on the planet, will this Bing powered social site bring a new dawn to the internet?
