At Fortune's Brainstorm Tech conference taking place this week in Aspen, the fireworks went off between Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google and now executive chairman, and Peter Thiel, founder of PayPal and outspoken libertarian. They both started out addressing whether or not technology has improved humanity in the past 30 years but soon ended up debating whether Google had lost its innovative edge.
