The definition of Easter, at least according to Dictionary.com is as follows:
"An annual Christian festival in commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, observed on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox, as calculated according to tables based in Western churches on the Gregorian calendar and in Orthodox churches on the Julian calendar."
Try saying that and breathing at the same time...
Anywho, whether you observe Easter or not, you've at least heard of it... at least I assume you have. And as such I wanted to share with you some of the things Easter and Social Media have in common, specifically some keywords that each share...
Easter - The yellow, purple, pink, etc. marshmallow-based confections that make your life just that much sweeter.
Social Media - Your peeps are your followers/who you're following; remember, it's quality not quantiy; if you have quality peeps in the social media world, your life is just that much sweeter.
Easter - On Easter, we go on a hunt; a search, a quest, a journey if you will, for bespeckled ovals painted in bright colors
Social Media - In social media the hunt starts from Day One and never ends; the hunt is for the aforementioned quality peeps who will share with you quality & relevant information; The Easter Egg Hunt lasts but one day; the social media hunt is endless.
Easter - Well of course the Easter Bunny hops; what else would he do, take a cab?
Social Media - Hop is an active verb and if you plan on getting anything out of social media, you better be prepared to hop and hop to it each day/every day; otherwise you're not going to amount to a hill of...
Easter - Did you know former President Ronald Reagan's favorite candy were jellybeans? ... has absolutely nothing to do with Easter; just figured I share some useless information with you
Social Media - You can probably guess where I'm going here, or maybe you don't... Stay active, VERY active in social media, engage often you'll be just another has-bean... yeah, I went there.
Easter - Ok, ok, I know this is very obvious, "Easter Egg"... I get it Steve. But stay with me, because when it comes to the world of...
Social Media - It's VERY important to let others see beyond your "shell"... to see the REAL you (cue the shameless plug: My friend Pam Moore & I host a weekly Twitter chat called #GetRealChat, every Tuesday at 9ET)... It is indeed crtitical to break open that shell you may have around you and be transparent; after all, you don't want the yoke to be on you, right?
Happy Easter everyone!
