OK. We are in the midst of the 2012 London Summer Olympics. And I am seeing hundreds of articles and blogs posts that are titled something along of the lines of:
"10 Gold-Medal Ways to Boost Your Profits!"
"How to Stick Your (Sales) Landing!"
"The Thrill of Victory, The Agony of Losing The Sale."
"National Anthem Singing Methods To Getting What You Want!"
"The Michael Phelps Guide To Being A Bigger, Better, Brighter Entrepreneur!"
"Keep Your Business Balance Like The US Women's Gymnastics Team!"
"How To Successfully Jump All Your Sales Hurdles!"
"Is Your Business Standing On Top Of The Medal Platform?"
"Are You Performing To Half-Empty Stands Like The London Olympics When You Give A Sales Presentation?"
"How To Be A Business Decathlete!"
I jest, of course. I love the Olympics too. But there is SO MUCH olympic content out there, that frankly, we all should be wining gold medals. And the sad thing is, most of the people writing these articles get winded when they walk from the TV to the fridge.
In any event...
Let me boil it down simply. You don't need all those articles and posts.
To achieve what you want, here is the simple ten-step process you need to follow:
1. Know what you want.
2. Have some sense how you might get there.
3. Start.
4. Keep reading. Keep learning.
5. Connect with people that can help.
6. Read/learn some more.
7. Review the plan. Are you on track?
8. Assess what to change.
9. Get there. Or don't.
10. Start again, or start the next thing.
Any questions?
