The New York Times ran a story about Google News' "Comments From People in the News," which encourages people quoted in articles to submit comments.
According to the article it is still to be determined "whether articles with comments have higher click-through rates, which brings us to the corporation's bottom line. The comments feature is yet another example of Google's getting into the content-generating business, as opposed to the content-searching business."
Is there money in user-generated content of this kind? Does it make for better content? Does commentary from someone mentioned in an article make the comment more or less objective? What do you think?
