One of the most famous baseball comedy acts to ever take place was the humorous exchange between Bud Abbott and Lou Costello.
Today's networked world reminds us of the famous conversations between Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. Well much of what some hear about the social web todays sounds a lot like the original "Who's On First?" comedy act.
Here is a rendition of "Who's on First?" for today's networked world. Can you relate?
Costello: Who is is pitching
Abbott: MySpace is pitching.
Costello: So YourSpace is pitching
Abbott: No, YourSpace is up to bat
Costello: Oh, boy, MySpace is pitching but YourSpace is up to bat. Whose the manager?
Abbott: Their Space.
Costello:What Space?...
Abbott:: What is on third.
Costello: Who is on third?...
Abbott: No, Who is on first
Costello: Where are they?.
Abbott: They are on second
Costello: What I want to know are the names?
Abbott: I said Who's on first, They are on second and What is on third.
Costello: That is what I want to know
Abbott: I don't know that
Costello: Who owns this team?
Abbott: Who is on first
Costello: What is the name of the team owner?
Abbott: Nobody.
Costello: Nobody leads the team?
Abbott: Exactly
Costello: Can I meet Nobody
Abbott: Sure
Costello: How?
Abbott: Go talk to Everybody
Costello: I don't want to talk to everybody but I do want to talk to somebody
Abbott: Somebody is talking with everybody
Costello: Why is somebody talking with everybody?
Abbott: Because Everybody needs to be on a team
Until we can unify our efforts Everybody will continue to converse with Somebody and Nobody will truly be part of an organized team with common aims.
The rendition of "Who's on First" is what those just engaging in the space hear. That is why we just launched the first Virtual Education Portal.
Maybe we should unite relations and organize teams to help each other play a more productive game. Get this is PDF here
