Seth Godin writes "Most power occurs because one side is better organized than the other. Labor is usually less well organized than management, criminals are usually less well organized than the police and customers are always less well organized than producers.
The internet promises to change that. It does it occasionally, sort of randomly. Sometimes, users will rise up and complain (as they did at Facebook). Or voters will organize online and hurt (or help) a politician or candidate."
"I think we're at the earliest possible beginning of the changes we're going to see because of this sort of grass roots coordination. The system doesn't know what to do with a movement."
The word organization is a social arrangement which pursues collective goals, which controls its own performance, and which has a boundary separating it from its environment. The word itself is derived from the Greek word (organon) meaning tool.
The internet is a tool but at its current stages it is unorganized. The tool is used by millions daily to converse but the conversations are unthreaded, unorganized. This unorganized mesh is robbing us of the potential of a united effort aimed at whatever objective two or more of us are aiming at. To create organization you and I must envision organization and become we, uniting our voices and efforts to become more productive.
Seth says, "Most power occurs because one side is better organized than the other, customers are always less well organized than producers"
So are you the customer or the producer? If your a producer than it is time you unite with others and get our collective production organized. If your viewing yourself as an unsatisfied customer then you'll have to wait until the producers make things better.
To those that see themselves as "producers", here is a call to unite our relations, organize our efforts and make things better so we can produce more with less. Power does indeed come from being better organized. If you like being powerless then stand on the sidelines and wait for the few who will unite as an organization and increase the power for the many.
To move towards organization we must unite our relations. Start here
