Never had I imagined that I would be here. Not in a million years. Running my own business, loving social media, and on a quest to become a better blogger( although I'm not too shabby just as I am now). A month ago, I did something radical- I threw away my to-do list! Even as I am typing those words my heart races. The thought of blogging, and running a business without a to-do list? Sounds crazy right?
Honestly I feel more focused and liberated than ever before.
My whole life I've known two things about myself
1. I am crazy passionate. It doesn't matter what it is, but if I latch hold of something and decide to be passionate about it, forget any chances of deterring me from it. That is until the next thing that I am passionate about comes along.
2. I am not "great" at one thing. Never felt like I had that one thing that I was destined to be, or that I was great at. I've been "good" at many things, but never great.
Why does this matter?
Because it has made me the blogger I am today. I am passionate about it, and though I may not be great (yet) I am pretty darn good. It's an amazing attribute to my success that I am not a one note wonder. Because you know that blogging is very dynamic and the fact that I am great at many different things is the greatest benefit in what I do today. Starting a blog takes passion and focus-passion is the cornerstone of creating great content.
I know you've read that article telling you to keep an editorial calendar, and how to create a working schedule for yourself, and basically how to suck the life right out of blogging. I am guilty of writing that same kind of post. And though there is a place for calendars, and schedules, and to-do's, I no longer let them govern my life- and definitely not my blog.
I said ALL of THAT to say THIS
Blogging is as much about expression as it is about being organized, and keeping schedules and to-do lists, if not more. If you want to become a better blogger, then follow your passion first. Forget that article(that I may have written) you read about setting up a blogging schedule, and keeping organized, etc. Don't let it govern you.
I threw away my to-do list and I have blogged my socks off ever sense. My posts are more passionate, my writing time is less pressured and more natural. My voice comes through with more conviction, I don't loose "me" in my posts. Writer's block happens less often, and I enjoy what I do "good" even more. In essence, I have become a better blogger.
