I got pretty excited by Chad Hurleys announcement at the annual Rich International Assholes Hot Air Fest at Davos that YouTube would soon start paying users for content until my fellow Social Media Collective member Jeff Nolan reminded me that it still isnt clear if YouTube itself is making money.  Pretty hard to share what you dont have although you can bet the best minds at GooTube are on the case.
Apparently, one of the options that YouTube has in mind is selling pre-roll advertisements of about three seconds length that users will see before the video theyve selected starts to play. But, Hurleys says the details are still being worked out.
Memo to Chad: Have you considered pop-ups?  People love those and theyre so unobtrusive.
