The Most Discussed Issues on Facebook and Instagram in April [Infographic]
Facebook have released their latest Hot Topics report, highlighting the issues that generated the most discussion across both Facebook and Instagram in April.
Facebook's monthly Hot Topics reports provide key insight into what's being mentioned - as well as, importantly, who by - which can help marketers get a better understanding of the issues and subjects most relevant to their target audiences.
So what were Facebook users most interested in last month?

United's passenger re-assignment program generated a heap of discussion on the brand front, with no other brands getting even close, though Tater Tots, Dodge and Frito-Lay also rated mentions in the list.
And a particularly interesting note - 'Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees and Beyond' was particularly popular among older female users.

Over on Instagram the story was, once again, fairly similar.

Increasingly, the top topics of discussion on the two networks have become more and more aligned - when Facebook first started publishing Instagram Hot Topics alongside Facebook data, there was a clear distinction between the two. The slow assimilation likely represents the broadening use case for Instagram, it's no longer so different from the engagement that occurs on Facebook, which may also mean it's a more relevant consideration for more brands.

Facebook's monthly Hot Topics reports are always a great source of insight and a means to tune into what your target market is talking about, and interested in. And while most of the bigger topics are predictable, there are always some smaller nuances - like metal covers of Bee Gees songs - that you may not know about.
