One Year of Hard Labor for a Tweet
For all the time I complain about someone putting something terrible on Twitter, like how their latest trip into the bathroom went, I forget how lucky I have it that I can make fun of that and not get hurt by anyone.

And on the 8th Day, God Said No Facebook!
Headline in today's Asbury Park Press...And it's a very literal title..."It's to the point now that this Sunday, anyone in our church in a leadership position and who is married and is on Facebook has to resign their church position if they do not give up Facebook."

Do we really need Facebook's social inbox?
So the splashy headlines the media seem to be going with, at least in the UK, are along the lines of 'Mark Zuckerberg says email is dead', which is a pretty ridiculous statement but is, of course, great PR. Facebook is more or less claiming to have found a revolutionary solution to a problem everybody encounters every day, which platform should I, or can I, speak to this person on - SMS, email or through social media messaging or IM? Research Reveals When Facebook Updates Are Most Effective
I blogged recently that page administrators must invest time into understanding the psychology of Facebook users, and that virtually all page interaction happens in the users own newsfeed unless there is a good reason to revisit a page. Bing & Facebook, Sitting in a Tree...
Well it's all been go, go, go with Facebook recently - the ongoing battle with Google over your contact list, copying Gmail/incorporating email (depending on your bias), opening a new $450 million data center in NC - but for me, one of the most intriguing developments is the Bing search integrati...

Facebook email: How your email went social
There is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things. - Niccolo Machiavelli

What the Hell is Facebook Playing At?
OK, so two things. First, Zuckerberg and co seem to be on a one way mission to annoy people. There are seemingly endless tweaks being made to Facebook at present and it feels like every time I login there's something different or something new. Now I'm not against change - I love progress! Twitter Speaks: Foursquare Still Has Some Way To Go
Yesterday saw the first ever Big Tweet Off on Twitter, with Foursquare coming under heavy scrutiny from numerous social media pros. And after an hour of debating the pros and cons followed by a vote, the majority opinion was that Foursquare is yet to convince people that it has the staying power for long-term success.

Your Real Twitter Advocates are Not Who You Think
I read a blog post last week that stated something along the lines of "show me a Twitter user who says he doesn't care about follower numbers and I'll show you a liar". It struck a chord - as much as any of us harp on about quality over quantity and about influence and all that other social media bull (it might be true, but it's still bull), the plain fact is that we want more followers.
