Dealmaker media is putting on another one of their fine events tomorrow: the Momentum Growth Conference.
Tonight they had an old-school networking event for some of the folks who will be at the Conference. I dropped by, said hi and met some really interesting people, including the team from Think London . They brought a real right-hand drive London taxi over to promote London as a place to do business for technology companies. Here's a quick video I shot talking with David Riches, Director of North America for Think London.

What interested me about the conversation I had with David was the more traditional face to face networking examples I kept coming up with for him as ways to get the word out about Think London's services. The short and sweet of it is that, if you need to open a branch in London, Think London is a London government sponsored office that can help.
Silicon Valley is so successful, in part, because entrepreneurs can quickly meet VCs, business partners and technologist. Those personal connections come through some basic institutions, including
- TIE , which holds regular and very useful networking events, usually with a moderated panel discussion
- The Web Guild , which runs a great blog and a series of meetings and events.
- Dealmaker Media , with their constant stream of niche conferences
In Silicon Valley, it is important who you know in technology, but it is not important what technology you use to get to know them. Face to face networking events with beer (or wine) work just fine.
