The success of Android and Apple phones has made the going tough for Research in Motion, manufacturer of the Blackberry phone. The company has seen the popularity of its once hot-selling BB phones take a sharp dip since the advent of Apple and Android phones. They have a lot of hopes pinned on the impending launch of their BB 10 Smartphones, and for this reason they have gone all out to ensure that this one will indeed catch the fancy of the public.
The launch event for the first BB 10 based Smartphone, if we are to believe rumors, is scheduled for the 30th of January. It was initially speculated that the first Smartphone will be from the BlackBerry N series, but the latest buzz is that the first will be a full touch screen phone, called the BlackBerry Z10. Not that there has been an official announcement to that effect. This has fueled consumer expectations and they are hoping to see some truly awesome features in this phone.
Here is a list of the rumored specifications:
Display: With the Samsung Galaxy S III at 4.8 inches and the iPhone 5 at 4 inches, it is thought that the Blackberry Z10 will be somewhere in the middle of this range; probably 4.2 or 4.3 inches with a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution.
Processor: Rumors suggest that the Blackberry Z10 will be powered by a TI OMAP 4470 1.5GHz Dual-Core Processor. If this turns out to be true then this Smartphone could certainly provide tough competition to the GS3 and iPhone 5.
RAM: The leaked images of Blackberry Z10 reveal that it comes with an incredible 2GB RAM.
Memory: Built in memory is rumored to be 16 or 32GB, expandable via microSD cards. There are also those who believe that the company may launch two or even three memory variants of its first BB 10 Smartphone, to appeal to a wider audience.
Camera: By now the standard rear camera for any Smartphone worth its name is 8 MP, with a 2 MP rear camera; I am willing to bet that the BB Z 10 will follow suit.
Other Features: It is also likely to include Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, dual-band and 802.11 a/g/n Wi-Fi & A-GPS connectivity and have a micro HDMI-out. Also likely to be part of the Blackberry Z 10 are: Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Ambient Light Sensor, and Face detect Gyroscope. The battery is likely to be 1800 mAh, though nobody has yet ventured a guess as to its life
Rumored Release Date: While it is expected that the latest operating system from RIM, the BB 10, will be launched on the 30th of January, it is not known if the handset will also be unveiled then or at a later date. But the latest rumors reveal that mid-month of February or even 30th January 2013 might be the date when the product will be released to the public.
While it is expected that the latest operating system from RIM, the BB 10, will be launched on the 30th of January, it is not known if the handset will also be unveiled then or at a later date.
There is also no word about the pricing. Wait just a little longer folks; the release date is not too far away. And since this is going to be a make or break OS and device for RIM, you can expect a dazzling launch. I for one am just dying to get my hands on the Z 10.
