Just got this email from George Breeden at RSM McGladrey to the ASAE Technology listserve:
"...the Technology Section Council has been working to collect resources through the Effective Technology Practices initiative. As part of that effort, we will be "hosting" a monthly topic for the list as a way to identify new resources, and ideally create a conversation on the issue of interest. A different volunteer will facilitate each month, and watch for resources that we can then post to the website.
[...]
We will also be using this activity as a way to further populate the Associapedia.[...]
We'll be talking more about how this group can contribute as part of the ongoing dialogue as we definitely want to help accelerate the population of certain high-value areas.Through the list we will also solicit ideas for the following month's topic. In particular we are trying to focus on areas where the community may have tangible resources that would be of value to other association staff and partners. Examples could include sample policies or procedures, job descriptions, work plans, or other instruments[...]"
This is a great example of cross-populating ideas, and specifically of using tried and tested modes of communication (the listserves) to create value for new ones (the wiki), AND showing the value of the wiki to a wider audience through adding templates and resources. We should always be on the lookout for ways to organically communicate between areas and departments. I dig it!
