I know what you're thinking. This infographic is an amalgamated list of fun Facebook facts and doesn't specifically address the improvement of Graph Search. Let me explain myself.
On the surface this seems like another pie-in-the-sky Facebook infographic, but they have two stats that stood out to me:
There are 1.13 trillion total Likes on Facebook and everyday there are 4.5 billion Likes generated. At that rate, that number will double in about 250 days. In other words, if those numbers are correct the velocity of social signals has increased substantially. Facebook understands that for Graph Search to become more robust, they need it to improve further. It seems that it may be improving...
I've shared many times about the Indian restaurant test that I use to gauge how well Graph Search is performing and I rarely (actually never) get personalized recommendations for an Indian restaurant based upon my friend's preferences. Believe it or not, Facebook needs that 1.13 trillion to multiply substantially to have a somewhat robust product... and they need people to use Graph Search with intent.
Of course, up to 40% of Likes may be fake, but maybe we'll stir that hornet's nest in another post. :)
Curious to know your thoughts about this or about the infographic.
