Facebook has released its latest Hot Topics report, highlighting the issues that generated the most attention across both Facebook and Instagram in October. The monthly Hot Topics reports provide key insight into not only what's being mentioned, but who by, which can help brands get a better understanding of the issues and subjects most relevant to their target market.
So what were Facebook users most interested in in October?
The election also remained a key focal point. Obviously both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton generated a lot of mentions, but they're not listed here as their mention volume has remained high throughout - the Hot Topics report is focused on those issues that have seen a significant increase in regular mention volume in the period. On this, Wikileaks was a hot topic of discussion, while both Michael Moore and Robert DeNiro make the list for their election contributions.
The return of TV series "The Walking Dead" also generated discussion, as did Kim Kardashian's recent ordeal in Paris, where she was robbed at gunpoint.
Over on Instagram the story was mostly similar.
As always, Facebook has also released regional Hot Topics reports for the UK, Canada and Australia, highlighting the issues resonating amongst users on those nations.
Facebook's monthly Hot Topics reports from Facebook are always worth a read as they help provide additional context on what each audience segment is talking about and interested in, which can increase understanding of your specific target market.
