I see the strangest things in my web analytics. Specifically, the search terms people use that lead them to my site. Obviously, I'm happy that terms like "social media research" bring them here, since that's related to what I'm doing. But sometimes I wonder what people are thinking. It can be pretty clear that they're looking for something other than what they find here.
Recent examples of search terms that led people here, the pages they lead to, and where the page ranks for the term:
- what does google mean - #5, What does "google" mean to you?
What does Google mean, anyway? - "change and acceleration" - #6, Derivatives in media measurement
Take away the quotes, and the post falls off the front page. - motivated by fear - #4, Motivated by fear
OK, that one's not hard to figure out. - top ten ways to embarrass someone - #3, 10 easy ways to embarrass your company in social media
