Folks have been talking about being able to purchase the clothes off of celebrities' backs for some time now. Even though the idea of wearing someone else's clothes kind of grosses me out, it might be pretty cool. I'm not being dense here, because I understand that it would be a copy or a similar style, I was just making a bad joke. That being said, many have toyed with the idea of being able to shop while watching television, or being able to buy clothes out of a music video, sadly, those people had no idea it has already happened.
Fashionista.com is one of the many super cool blogs I like to waste away my workday on. I'm not sure how I missed this but they released this awesome article screaming from the digital rooftop how they will be featuring a music video that you will be able to shop. Yes, Shop. As in BUY the clothes you see, instantaneously. Ssense, a Montreal Based company, along with wireWAX are the masterminds behind this awesomeness that is about rock the Ecommerce world.
The video was released the day after the article, featuring some up-and coming pop/hip-hop stars that I haven't heard of, but I'm sure most have. It was pretty seamless how the entire shopping experience worked out. Little floating boxes popped up giving you the option to shop the look. It wasn't any more annoying than some useless backup dancer writhing around, so I'd say it was a major success.
I wonder how this will coincide with Facebook shopping Apps, or how it will link into SEO efforts for your company if you are running an Ecommerce site? I know there have been whispers from the Google God's that the future of having video related to SEO is almost a reality, so will the fact that you can shop from the video mean that you will be able to already have the video as part of a linking strategy to your site? I won't hold my breath on Google releasing the finer details of that information because I value my life but I am self-medicating due to the anxiety.
In the meantime I'm going to watch that video till I can sing it efficiently, while sober, before karaoke tonight. Feel free to post rude comments below, or email me some of the intelligent stuff you think is going to happen about this whole SEO/Video thing so I have something to laugh about while binging on diner food at 4am tonight.
'Cause we are living in a digital world and I'm a social media girl.XB
