I woke up to find that Feedburner was recording far less RSS subscribers than I usually have. It seems Google's Feedfetcher did a runner:
If you saw your subscriber count drop precipitously in your Saturday, November 3rd summary from FeedBurner, the reason is that specific subscriber stats from Google Feedfetcher were offline because this service was apparently out late with friends on Friday night, and well, it completely slept through Saturday. It appears to have rallied, however, and amid firm declarations of "I'm never doing that again", Feedfetcher has started diligently reporting subscriber numbers to us, early this morning Pacific Time. FeedBurner publishers' subscriber counts should be closer to what you'd normally expect starting with reports that will be available on Monday morning.
In other news, Zoli is wondering whether Technorati is dropping part of its indexed material. It is. A Technorati search on 'Sage' for this site only goes back to 27th May, 2007. I've been writing about Sage for more than 2 years. As Zoli says - Technorati is toast. Personally, I don't care about them anymore. They lost relevance a while back when they failed to capitalise on a great idea by simply not developing the service beyond a few tweaks here and there.
As with many things in the rapidly emerging technology world, robustness of service doesn't seem high in the agenda. That simply won't do.
