Social Media Today is represented live and in person at today's opening of the Gov 2.0 Expo Showcase in Washington by Robin Carey, our CEO, (she'll be the attractive lady on crutches--long story) and Ari Herzog, community manager of our latest and greatest web community--Governing People, an online watering hole for advocates of smart, efficient, and transparent government--and Government 2.0. Launched in March 2009, Governing People is quickly becoming a must-read online companion for thought leaders at Microsoft, IBM, and the federal government. Its contributing bloggers and commenters include many members of the GovLoop social networking site, and its posts are frequently retweeted by the GovTwit network. Like My Venture Pad, the Smart Data Collective, The Energy Collective, and others hyperlinked in the bottom right corner of this page--SMT communities seek to establish purpose-built aggregated outlets for niche bloggers and provide a means for anyone to participate through comments, retweets, stumbles, and diggs.
We're expecting about 100 people at our free open luncheon which will feature speakers from the GSA, IBM, Microsoft, Booz Allen and the Department of Homeland Security. You don't have long (starts at noon) but if you can find the attractive lady on crutches (or show up at Room #140 at the Convention Center), they'll let you in.
