How to Switch off Notifications in LinkedIn
Here's a quick, but important one.
One of the key annoyances for regular LinkedIn users is the amount of notifications they receive, covering everything from job changes to people's birthdays to jobs you might want to apply for, etc.
But as with all things on LinkedIn, you can actually control what notifications you get - as clarified here by LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner.
For those asking, here's how to turn off specific notification types on LinkedIn. https://t.co/XdEmENq4uX- Jeff Weiner (@jeffweiner) March 29, 2017
Pretty easy, right?
You can switch off notifications for anything.
You can also do the same on desktop by clicking the three dots at the far right of the notification.
So there you go, no more birthday notifications. Of course, there are good reasons why you might want to receive such updates, as they can help you stay in touch with relevant contacts. But even if you do switch them off, you can always go back and update your settings.
On mobile, there'll be a reminder at the top of your 'Notifications' tab that you've switched off certain notification types.
Tap on edit and you'll be able to update your settings as required.
On desktop, when in your Notifications tab, there's a small box to the right of screen which reminds you that you have certain notifications switched off. Click on it and you'll be able to edit your preferences as required.
These, along with the various other new measures LinkedIn has introduced to better customize and refine your feed, should help improve your LinkedIn experience and make it more attuned to your interests.
Now all they need to add is the ability to unfollow people you're not connected to, but who show up your feed via interactions with your connections.
