So you've done it. You've finally joined Twitter. After all the waiting and the seemingly constant wave of begging from your friends to try it, you've finally budged and signed up. Who knows, maybe that really popular 7 foot basketball player persuaded you to join. I know that was one of the many reasons that I joined in and the good part, Shaq is one of the many Twitterers in the world that you can immediately follow once you sign on. But what happens you've gone through the people finder function and found all of your friends who have a Twitter feed? You know they're going to follow you and you are going to follow them but what happens after that? Now begins the major conundrum. You're following list is rather large but you're follower list well...it's pretty minuscule. Sure we can follow Shaq and that's great and all but is Shaq really going to follow us...well unless we're Steve Nash probably not.
And now as Twitter is getting larger and larger by the day and more and more celebrities/musicians or those significant in the areas of social media to tech become involved in Twitter and rack up a large following to their Twitter feed, it'll become even more apparent that they'll likely have more people following them than the other way around. Fear not though! As Social News Watch has compiled a list of major Twitterers who will actually follow you back! Ranging from those who have 100,000 followers to those who have 20,000 followers, you're guaranteed from this list alone to have 237 Twitterers that'll enjoy follow you.
And looking at the list you're definitely going to find your share of notable names. First things first, you have our commander in chief himself Barack Obama who is currently following 500,000 plus Now we may never know if President Obama is actually manually adding each person but hey is he a busy man you know. But it is cool to know that the leader of the free world is following you. The list contains popular websites The Onion (200,000 plus) notable thought leaders Robert Scoble (84,000 plus), major businesses Starbucks (50k-100k followers) and prominent TV networks such as ESPN (65,000 plus)
So know that you're not going to be alone in the Twitter universe and someone where out there are going to be people who are going to read your thoughts. Just make sure they're good Tweets! But hey who knows... someone might enjoy your Saturday day tweet about how much you love to eat ice cream at 10 am in the morning. You never know.
