LinkedIn has announced the relaunch of its Economic Graph insights element, which will now be called LinkedIn Pulse.

As explained by LinkedIn: “Opportunity is changing. Understanding where it’s moving has never mattered more. That’s why today, the LinkedIn Economic Graph becomes LinkedIn Pulse. LinkedIn Pulse brings together data and insights from across LinkedIn’s 1.4 billion members, 71 million companies and 42,000 skills to help businesses, governments and people understand how work is changing right now, where opportunity is emerging, and what to do next.”
LinkedIn CMO Jessica Jensen said the updated Pulse hub provides a new place to help people make sense of how work is changing, where opportunity is emerging and what that means for them.
As per Jensen: “Our economists have a real-time view into the global labor market, helping companies, policymakers, governments, and the media understand where work is headed. And we’re bringing that insight to all of you with Pulse, to help you make smarter decisions about your career, team or business.”
LinkedIn is also expanding its content and analysis by partnering with journalists, including Scalable founder Kaya Yurieff, to break down specific elements of economic opportunity, such as the impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce.
The new Pulse resource could provide valuable data notes and trend insights, though the name is a little confusing because LinkedIn Pulse was previously the name of LinkedIn’s creator publishing platform.
When LinkedIn initially launched its long-form content creation tools in 2015under the moniker LinkedIn Pulse, creators were very keen to publish their content in the app, with the hopes of getting viral traction when selected by the Pulse algorithm.
But changes to content distribution made that idea less appealing over time, and the name “Pulse” seemingly fell by the wayside.
But now it’s back, in a new form, with LinkedIn using the title to bring new energy to its internal insights.
